The clothes are quite rough but I spent ages on this making his face look right, and somewhat like the England I drew previously. XP
I got the photo from: [link] I just painted Arthur over that (yes, that is the actual size). I used the underpainting method because I had no refs for him, so figuring out the lighting was tricky. Colouring using this method is hit and miss, so it took me longer but laying down the form was pretty quick since I'm used to working in B&W. Do you know how difficult it is to get decent pictures of Big Ben in the rain that I can put a person in?! I put him in casual clothes because I didn't feel like drawing an insanely-detailed military uniform. I should have given him a snappier London style in hindsight... I might do more of these pictures with the other countries. Eiffel Tower for France, Trevi fountain for Veneziano, Kyoto Torii for Japan, Statue of Liberty for USA. |
